Copperbelt Nursing Polytechnic (CNP)

Copperbelt Nursing Polytechnic is situated in the second class trading area of Ndola Town Centre. The institution is 600m away from Ndola General Post office in the North West, and 15 Km away from Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe Airport, West of Ndola.

Ndola the second largest city, is located 340 kilometres north of the capital city Lusaka at an attitude of 1,270 metres above sea level and on latitude of 13 degree South and longitude 28.39 degrees. 

According to Central statistics office (2021) the population of Ndola District is estimated at 625,574.

The college offers a 3 years direct entry Registered Nursing diploma program and a 2 years Registered Nursing Conversion programme for Enrolled nurses, and is planning to offer 1 year EN to RN abridged programme.  The administration building which provides the frontage of the institution is situated in the Falcon Press building, Lufunsa Avenue, and comprises of the Library, Computer Laboratory, Skills laboratory and Classrooms.   It also houses boarding facilities for students.

 

CNP has an academic staff of eleven (11) headed by the Education Manager and eight (8) vibrant supportive staff.  In 2022, the focus is to have nine (9) lecturers and 6 clinical instructors.

Ndola Teaching hospital, a third (3rd) level referral hospital with a bed capacity of 851 beds and 97 cots is the main practicum site for students.  For paediatric and neonatal care clinical experience, students go to Arthur Davison Children’s hospital (ADH) which has a bed capacity of 250 with an average of 150 patients per day.

Ndola Urban and rural clinics and health centres are practicum sites for Public Health (PH) and Primary Health Care (PHC) experience for CNP students.

Funding for CNP comes from student’s fees and to a lesser extent from fundraising ventures.
